Privacy Policy

JournalBear is built on a simple principle: your journal is nobody's business but yours.

What we collect

Nothing. JournalBear has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of its own. The app never connects to the network. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data — including your journal entries, photos, moods, or usage patterns.

Where your journal lives

Your journal is stored as a single file, on your device, in a location you choose. The entire file is encrypted with AES-256, using a key derived from your password. Your password is never stored anywhere. If you forget it, nobody — including us — can recover your journal.

If you choose to store your journal file in a synced location (such as iCloud Drive), that storage is governed by the provider's privacy policy. The file remains encrypted wherever it goes.

Third parties

Apple may collect standard, aggregated App Store statistics (downloads, crashes) under Apple's privacy policy. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log standard access data under GitHub's privacy statement. The app itself sends nothing to anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
